MUSICIANSHIP
"Musical training is a more potent instrument than any other because rhythm and harmony find their way into the inward places of the soul."

Penn State Choirs and Philharmonic Orchestra perform the Verdi Requiem
Penn State offers a variety of performing opportunities and ensembles. I was able to participate in many of them! All have contributed immensely to my musical growth and development!
Some highlights of my college musical career are:
- performing in front of over 100,000 Penn State fans in Beaver Stadium, as a member of the Penn State Marching Blue Band! I also traveled to Michigan, Ohio, Wisconsin, and Philadelphia for away games, as well as the Capital One, Outback, and Ticket City Bowl Games! All were such wonderful experiences and opportunities!
- directing an all-female a cappella group, the Leading Tones.
- singing in the choir for the performance of Verdi's Requiem.
- giving a solo recital during my senior year.
- conducting the Penn State Horn Ensemble at the annual PMEA Conference.
- ... and much more!
I participated in the following groups:
- Marching Blue Band (Guide, Music Section Leader)
- Women's Chorale (President, Vice President)
- Leading Tones A Cappella Group (Director, Assistant Director)
- Symphonic Band
- Horn Ensemble and chamber groups
- Horn Quartet
- Cantante, select choir
- Muses, chamber choir
At Penn State, I study horn with Distinguished Professor Lisa O. Bontrager. I have taken private lessons each semester, and the skill and technique building has made me a much more conscientious musician and listener. Leadership and teamwork is fostered in our studio, as Professor Bontrager always encourages us to uphold the highest standards of respect for our colleagues.
